Refreshing take on nature and history
Izwan Ismail

Tired of reading political blogs? Then surf over to Tung Kin Foong’s blog at http://tungkinfoongsblog.blogspot.com. The content is educational and refreshing, especially if you are into Mother Nature, local history and landmarks.

Tung hopes that his blog will enable people to have an insight into what he sees and experiences as an individual.

The way Tung organises his blog with many professionally taken pictures complete with detailed descriptions of the subjects makes his blog an interesting read and a pleasure to view.

Tung describes Mother Nature, historical places and culture from the way he sees and experiences them. He goes into the forests and hills to get the best shots of his subjects. Add to that the knowledge of the things he captures on his camera, reading his blog is similar to watching a scaled-down, local version of National Geographic.

For example, Tung’s interest in butterflies is obvious as there are over 100 species of this beautiful creature featured in the blog. One would have never thought that there are so many of these “flying art” insects around.

Armed with a “cheap” digital camera as Tung claims, he has managed to capture some pretty good photos. Being patient and finding a willing subject help tremendously in his quest.

Besides insects, he features local flora and fauna such as hibiscus varieties, historical places and culture.

According to Tung, who is a quality manager from Taiping, Perak, his blogging activities started in January this year.

“I find it interesting to write about historical places and nature, especially when I am able to take some nice photos,” he says, so people from around the world would have an insight into what he sees and experiences as an individual.

One unique feature about his blog is the language translation function where there are nine languages available: simplified Chinese, Korean, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese and Arabic.

“This is to cater to readers from other countries where English is not a common language,” says Tung.

He adds that most American readers appreciate his blog. “Probably because they don’t get to see rainforests often and it is something different for them.”

To keep his blog current, Tung updates it at least twice a month. “So far, I have been updating it more than that frequency,” he says.

To make the blog more attractive, he says he might need to upgrade his camera for better photo quality.
