KOTA KINABALU: Tourism industry players need to be creative and innovative in order to come up with products that can promote Sabah's nature to the world.

State Tourism, Culture, and Environment Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun yesterday said tour operators have an important role to play on this matter, especially in terms of marketing and promoting the state's natural surroundings creatively.

"To me, if we want to deliver and push the (tourism) industry to greater height, we have to continue to engage with our tourists.

"For example, tourists come to Sabah because they want to experience our beautiful beaches and forests. They want to relax.

"Hence, we must find new items and create innovative products to provide variety experiences to our vistors," he said at the official launching of North Borneo Cruise here.

The new product initiated by Amazing Borneo Tours offers the people a sunset and night dining experience while cruising on the city's waters.

The company is co-founded by Tyan Wong, 35, Kenji Yeo, 37, and Lynn Tiang, 35.

First of its kind in Sabah, the North Borneo Cruise takes diners on a two-hour scenic cruise past the islands of Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and down to central coast gliding along the city's famous waterfront.

The three-deck catamaran cruise boat can accommodate 100 pax per session and the dining package inclusives of buffet dinner as well as live band entertainment.

Wong said Sabah has one of the best sunset views in the world and such dining cruise is able to promote the state's nature to a greater height.

"A lot of people have asked us why cruise? Sabah needs this product because we have beautiful sunset and islands.

"We can enjoy all these through a cruise. Tourism product is dependant on nature and we want to make used of this," he said, adding visitors can visit for more information

North Borneo Cruise depart daily at 4.50pm and 7.50pm from the Sutera Marine Jetty, here.

It offers Sunset Dinner Cruise package, which is priced at RM295 per adult and RM160 per child, and KK City Night Dinner Cruise package priced at RM199 per adult and RM98 per child.
