KUCHING: Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating claims that some of the Sarawak football players were involved with match fixing.
Its state acting director Zulhairi Zaidel said a report had been lodged with the commission and an investigation paper has been opened for the case.
“Yes, we have received (the report) and aware of the statement issued by Sarawak Football Association (FAS).
"We are in the process of investigating and will do the necessary,” he said.
FAS had on its Facebook page, claimed that it has received reports that some players were involved in football corruption following the defeat to Felcra in Saturday's Premier League match in Kuching.
Sarawak was leading with 2-0 before Felcra netted late goals to win the game at 3-2.
The association said it suspected something amiss following the dismal performance by the team during its third match in the league at Stadium Negeri here.
FAS president Datuk Posa Majais said he had instructed the team manager, Wahab Abdul Rahim, to lead an internal probe on the matter.
The association said it would not hesitate to take legal action and if the claims were found to be true.
