KUALA LUMPUR: National coaches under the BA of Malaysia (BAM) could be redesignated as the national body are expected to discuss about it in their coaching and training committee meeting on Tuesday.
It is learnt that the current coaching structure could go through another reshuffle while the committee are expected replace some shuttlers for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in April and the Thomas and Uber Cup Finals in Bangkok in May.
BAM honorary secretary Datuk Ng Chin Chai said several matters will be discussed in the meeting.
The current coaching structure — which has five head coaches (Misbun Sidek, Cheah Soon Kit, Tey Seu Bock, Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei Hui) — was the brainchild of former technical director Morten Frost, who left the national body last year.
"Our agenda for the meeting is not fixed, but yes we will discuss about the coaching structure.
"We will also discuss on the changes to the team that will compete at the Commonwealth Games as well as the squads for the assignment in Bangkok
"We need to finalise our Commonwealth Games squad before March 7. Some shuttlers are injured and we need to replace them.
“It should not be a problem as we have about 30 players under BAM,” said Chin Chai, adding that independent players will also be considered for the priority competitions.
For the Commonwealth Games, Malaysian will send a 10-member squad, comprising five men and five women.
